Jim Young

We were saddened to learn that Governor General’s Curling Club member Jim Young passed away on September 21, 2026.

Jim was inducted into the GGs in 2007 in recognition of his contributions as a builder and administrator of curling. He received the Ottawa Valley Curling Association’s Ken Thain Award in 2003 after chairing the 2001 Nokia Brier. Jim was a popular and well known curler and golfer. Jim served for many years as the Governor General’s Curling Club secretary and treasurer. Jim was also a long-time member and board member at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club, where the club flag is flying at half-mast—a fitting tribute Jim.

When further details are known, they will be shared.
